The MYP at Focus High School provides a broad and balanced curriculum across eight subject groups:

Assessment philosophy and practices

Assessment at Focus High School is aligned with IB principles of validity, reliability, fairness, and transparency.

  • Assessment is criterion-related, based on subject objectives (Criteria A–D)

  • Achievement levels range from 1–8

  • A variety of formative and summative assessments are used

Assessment practices ensure:

  • Ongoing feedback for improvement

  • Opportunities for student reflection and self-assessment

  • Use of data to inform teaching and learning practices

The Personal Project

In MYP Year 5, students complete the Personal Project, demonstrating:

  • Independent inquiry and sustained investigation

  • Application of ATL skills

  • Creative and critical thinking

  • Reflection on their learning journey

The project is assessed using IB criteria:

  • Criterion A: Planning

  • Criterion B: Applying Skills

  • Criterion C: Reflecting

Community Engagement (previously known as Service as Action is a core component of the MYP at Focus High School, fostering active and responsible citizenship.

Students:

  • Participate in meaningful community engagement
  • Apply classroom learning to real-life contexts
  • Reflect on their contributions and personal growth

The successful implementation of the MYP at Focus is supported by strong pedagogical leadership. The leadership team ensures:

In MYP Year 5, students are prepared for the IB eAssessment, which includes:

  • On-screen examinations
  • ePortfolios in selected subjects
  • The Personal Project

Successful candidates are awarded the MYP Certificate, which is internationally recognized.

Pathways for MYP Year 5 Students

Focus High School offers flexible pathways that support diverse aspirations. Upon completion of MYP Year 5, students may choose to appear for:

  • SSC Board Examination in March-April
  • NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) April-May
  • IB MYP eAssessments (May Session)
