The purpose of a dress code is to create a spirit of belonging, and to prevent distraction, competition, and vanity. The school uniform must be worn every school day, for special events and on field trips. Each morning, before sending off your children, kindly ensure that they follow these instructions carefully. If a student violates any aspect of the dress code and uniform, the class teacher will counsel the student and parents. The class teacher will follow up with appropriate action: for example, jewelry may be taken for safekeeping, students may be required to cut fingernails at school, or students may be required to wash off makeup.

Dress Code

  • The school uniform must be clean and ironed.
  • Uniforms must be of the correct size. The navy blue waistcoat for girls of C4-C10 must be long enough to cover the hips and thighs.
  • Shoes must be polished. Torn shoes should be replaced.
  • Only students up to C3 are allowed to wear casual dress on their birthdays.
  • Students are not allowed to wear rings, earrings or other jewelry. But, for religious reasons, students may wear one single, simple item (e.g. thread, steel bangle, or earring stud).

Grooming

  • Boys’ hair must be short and even; they should apply oil (but not gel, mousse, spraytint, or dye to style their hair)
  • Girls’ hair must be braided in one or two plaits and must not fall on the shoulders; they should apply oil; hair must be kept off the forehead, using a plain black band or clips.
  • Nails must be trimmed.
  • Students may not wear makeup of any kind (including nail polish, kajal, pen ink tattoos).
  • Students are not encouraged to apply mehendi. But, on special occasions, they may apply mehendi only to the palms of the hands.

Purchasing

  • Every year, students must have at least 2 new sets of uniform (but only 1 waistcoat) & 1 new set of sports dress. For Nur-PP2, students must have at least 3 new sets of sports dress.
  • For shoes, purchase sturdy, all-black sports shoes without laces from any shop. (Socks also from any shop)
  • For sweaters, purchase navy blue (i.e. dark blue) in the correct style from any shop. (Leggings also from any shop).
  • For house caps, maqna, topi, belts, and spot purchasing of uniform and sports dress.
