Objectives

  • Trainees will develop teaching skills through internship
  • Trainees will explore a variety of teaching strategies through workshops and exposure visits
  • Trainees will gain certification through mentoring & guidance
  • Trainees will prepare for job placement

Modules

  • Introduction to early childhood education (ECE)
  • Theories and Approaches in ECE
  • Child psychology, child care and health
  • Child development and milestones
  • Elements of teaching
  • Role of a class teacher and role of an assistant
  • Disorders and difficulties faced by children; Remedial teaching
  • Academic goals and curriculum planning
  • Evaluation in early years

Internship

  • Responsibilities of trainees: assist lead teachers; take initiative to plan, teach, and assess; follow school’s service rules; fulfill requirements of certifying institutions
  • Responsibilities of mentors: to give helpful feedback on tasks; to observe lessons; to guide trainees to successfully fulfill requirements of certifying institutions

  • Internship timings: Mon to Thur 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Theory timings: Fridays and 3rd Saturdays 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
