Activities done this week: 

  1. The students inquired about different animals.
  2. They were able to list down the names of birds that they learnt previously.
  3. This week the students inquired more about animals and were able to categorize pet and wild animals.
  4. Students did a worksheet in which they had to circle the pet animals.

       Upcoming activities: Students will inquire about water animals and insects.

  • Being knowledgeable helps us understand that they have explored concepts and ideas. They acquire an in-depth knowledge through various activities and use conceptual understanding for exploring across a range of disciplines. 

 

 

 

  • Being a communicator students express themselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. They collaborate effectively, listen carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.”

THEME: SHARING THE PLANET

TOPIC: PLANTS & ANIMALS

Activities done this week: 

  • Students inquired about parts of a plant.
  • They inquired about the names of the parts.
  •  They were able to understand the importance of plants in our lives.
  • They were able to tell the names of different parts of the plant.
  • They understand that plant needs soil, water and air to grow.

Montessori Activities: They are self directed activities, hands on learning and collaborative play. They are an important aspect of child development and enhancing a child’s natural interest to match with the activities.

Activities done this week: Pink Tower, Broad Stairs, Pouring, Beading, Pegging, Picking, Folding napkins and correct ways of opening and closing zips and buckles.

Activities like Pink Tower and Broad Tower help in gross motor development fine muscle development, coordination of movement, eye hand coordination. Children learn abstract mathematical concepts.

Activities like pegging help build fine motor muscle and coordination. It also help in development of good finger grip. 

Folding napkins and clothes is a wonderful exercise for building independence, confidence and fine motor skill.

 

Upcoming activities/ HW: Show and Tell : Children will learn to show and tell 2 sentences about any one of their favourite toy which they will bring from home. 

Please make them learn 2 or 3 sentences about their favourite toy and send it to school.

It is great for gross motor development as the kids uses large muscles to shake the parachute. Subject: P.E-

Activities done this week: Students enjoyed “balancing” on chairs. This activity helped students develop gross motor skills.

  • Students enjoyed free play with manipulatives and other physical equipment.
  • Students enjoyed playing with balloons. This helped students develop eye-hand coordination.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Students will play with different coloured balls for eye-hand coordination.

Dear parents,

Next week we  will be focusing on hygiene and table manners (good & bad habits) to explain to students that good table manners are a way of showing respect and consideration for themselves and others. We request you to send a napkin, spoon and fork (plastic) and fresh fruit juice with straw along with the tiffin, and water bottle without fail from Tuesday 30 Aug 2019 – 2 Aug 2019

 

NOTE: Please help the child to instill these table manners at home as well.

Students were able to identify number 1 & 2 with their values.

They recapitulated strokes “standing and sleeping line”.

Students did fingerprinting, fist painting and sponge printing to make a collage. This helped them develop their skills. And these activities were done to infuse red colour.

Activities done this week: Students identified the parts of the body. They learnt basic etiquettes to be followed before eating snacks.

Activities done this week: Students learnt numbers 1-5. They recited number songs “ rabbit rabbit 123, and 1,2 buckle my shoe.

They learnt pre mathematical concept up-down through roli poli. “Circle” shape was introduced.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Oral numbers 1-5 will be carried forward. Pre Mathematical concepts will be recapitulated.

Activities done this week:  Students learnt standing line through hand gestures. They recited ABCD songs. They learnt ABCD with phonics.

Story session was held during the whole week. Students enjoyed listening to interesting stories. The stories were “tiger and the mouse” and “the thirsty crow”.

Upcoming activities/ HW:  More stories will be narrated. Students will be introduced to sleeping line along with a recap of standing line.
