Activities done this week :         

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week for their unit ROLE MODEL was being OPEN-MINDED. It means that we are willing to try new things or to hear and consider new ideas. An example of an open minded person is one who listens to their opponent in a debate to see if the information makes sense to reflect and change our mind. It was great to see the children being REFLECTIVE putting on their thinking caps by identifying the different traits of leader in themselves and also trying to be open-minded and changing their views and adapt new traits which can bring out the best in them.

  1. Students  brainstormed on what it means to be proactive and reactive and did the activity ”CIRCLE OF CONTROL” for HABIT-1, with the given situations and for Habit-2, students did a task sheet wherein they cut & paste the consequences of having a plan and not having a plan.

  1. Students also brainstormed on Habit-3, Put first things first – responded to a Disaster Scenario prioritising what to keep and what to do & do work first and then did  task sheet(sorting activity).

Habit-4, Think win-win – Sweet exchange, negotiate with other teams to collect a valuable set of sweets and will be given 4 different scenarios followed by discussion.

  1. Students practiced addition of numbers by arranging them in proper place value.
  2. Mental math addition activities by playing Addition High Fives in the class.
  3. Students did hands on(cut & paste)activity of addition problems in the class.
  4. Students also learned to solve the addition Math problems horizontally.

In order to build this bond we have organized parent orientation on Sat 20 July 2019. This will be a 2 hours session and will include strategies and tips on parental involvement and interactive session on inquiry in Unit, Math and English.

Orientation schedule will be as follows:

PP2& C1: 9:30 – 11:30 am

C2 & C3: 11:30 noon – 1:30 pm

C4 & C5: 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Passed: Dear Parents we celebrated FATHER’S DAY with great gusto & enthusiasm, we really appreciate the fathers of( MAAZ ARSHAD BAIG, SYED TALIB ALI MOOSVI, MIR SABER HUSSAIN MOOSVI & SYEDA ARSHIYA FATIMA), who took out time from their busy schedules to share their experiences and goodies with our children.

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week for their unit ROLE MODEL was being an INQUIRER & THINKER. It means to gather, ask, do research to get new ideas and put on their thinking caps, scratch their heads about different qualities that their role model should possess. It was great to see the children being little inquirers putting on their thinking caps by identifying the different qualities about their Role model, and also trying to understanding and absorb the new information gathered. Children were very excited and enthusiastic to find out more and become keen learners about their unit.

4. Students identified the vocabulary words for their topic.
5. Students did the see-think-wonder activity.
Finding out:-
Students found many new vocabulary words.
Students found meanings and synonyms for the given words using thesaurus and dictionary.
Students brainstormed to find out the qualities required in their role model.
Students found their role model and wrote how and why they chose them.

Students also converted expanded form to Standard form.
