Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week

This week the learner profile attributes the students focussed is “Inquirers”. The students showed interest in different landforms of the earth. They were excited to learn about the planets, oceans and continents. They also learnt the “ Landform rap song” the link of which is uploaded below. The students enjoyed the activities done in the class

 

Upcoming activities / HW:

Next week the students will focus on being “Inquirers” and indulge further into the topic. They will also assess themselves in the first LOI next week.

  • Students identified and label different landforms from the list of words, and did colour, symbol, image activity(VISIBLE THINKING ROUTINES)
  • Students watched the videos related to continents and landforms to have a deeper understanding of the topic

  • Students did a Dictogloss activity for landforms. They reconstructed a short text by listening and noting down keywords, which were then used as a base for reconstruction.

Guided Reading:

Students read stories for their appropriate levels,independently/ through teacher’s assistance, with good understanding. They read the text, identified the verbs and changed the verb tenses to past tenses and wrote it in their notebooks.

 

Grammar:

  •  Students read texts at an appropriate level, independently, confidently and with good understanding. They wrote the Title of the text, level no and did match the following task.
  • Students demonstrated more understanding of verbs through application of knowledge and practice work.
  • Students demonstrated more understanding of irregular verbs through change of verb tenses in sentences.
  • Students assessed themselves in spell drill words and wrote the spelling test according to their group levels.

  • Students will write the next 10 spell drill words according to their grouped levels. They will read the words and write it down using different colors.

  • دو حرفی ، تین حرفی الفاظ کی تقریری صلاحیت پیدا کرنے کے لئے شیٹ دی گئی جس میں ۹۰ الفاظ ایسے لکھے ہیں جن میں تینوں حرف علیحدہ ہیں  ۔ تاکہ بچوں کو بنا ملے ہوئے تین حرفی الفاظ با آسانی پڑھنے آجائے ۔  
  • بچوں کو نظم لکھوانا تاکہ ان میں تحریری شعور بیدار ہو اور بورڈ پر سے نقل کرنے کی عادت پڑ سکے ۔ ” نقل ” کی عادت ڈالنا ضروری ہے تاکہ ان میں تحریری صلاحیت کو اجاگر کیا جا سکے۔ نظم ” پرندے کی فریاد ” اور ” ہوا چلی ” لکھنا اور پڑھنا سکھایا گیا ۔

 This week students displayed learner profile qualities of “Inquirers”. Students developed natural curiosity for the topic landforms. They enjoyed active learning and had fun doing the activities.

 The  LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that we will be focussing next week is being “Inquirers” as we move ahead with the topic Landforms and settlements. The students will do break up of central idea and start with the vocabulary and geographical terms.

Activities done this week

 This week students displayed learner profile qualities of “Reflective” and “courageous”. They did a reflection of arts about what they have learnt and understood till now. They reflected their understanding of the unit and were courageous to present their choice of art as summative assessment.

The  LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that we will be focussing next week is being “Inquirers” as we move ahead by introducing the topic Landforms and settlements. The students will do break up of central idea and start with the first LOI.

Activities done this week: 

  • Students created mind maps with given keywords relating to famous artists (Picasso, Matisse, M.F Hussain) thus reflecting on the knowledge gathered in LOI-3
  • Students recalled all the activities done during the unit and identified the most enjoyable and the most difficult part of the unit on the reflection sheet
  • Students presented their creativity through their choice of art in summative assessment and conveyed a strong message through their choice of art form
  • Students synthesised new unit “Landforms and Settlements” and  took down Theme, Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry and concepts in their notebooks
  • Students learnt about the different forms of storytelling through Guest Lecture. They listened to short stories through different techniques e.g puppet show, music etc during guest lectures and try out few techniques in groups

Activities done this week:  This week students displayed learner profile qualities of “Inquirer”. They were curious to find out art is vast and unique as they got to learn about the different artist styles. They learnt about fauvism, cubism and painting on a panel.

  • Students took down the Biography of all three artists. They were able to draw out the similarities and differences between the three artists. Henri Matisse introduced the world to a new type of art called “Fauvism” meaning Wild beast which consisted of paper cuts and shaped.  Pablo Picasso gave world the concept of “Cubism” where in he made portraits of people through shapes and different figures. M.F.Hussain did not follow any particular style of painting. He rather painted Indian themes, historic figures and religious paintings.
  • Students discussed their findings and shared their knowledge about the three artists with each other. They recapitulated what all they have learnt for the week to prepare for the coming FA3 and SA

Literature & Spell drill:

  • Students were grouped according to their levels and took down the spell drill words. They read the words and wrote it down. They practiced spellings for spell drill from “Let’s Read”

 

Reading & Writing:

  • Students used the task cards to do the reading. They read the given text and wrote the exercise in the notebook. They noted the Title, Level and exercise. Each and every student read the task card and solved the exercise

Activities done this week:students did basic warm up, followed by dynamic stretching.

Students performed fun activity in groups which helps them to develop their agility and body balance.

Activities done this week: Students listened to the story from the teacher through musical instruments, body language with follow up by the activity 3- panels story book, in which students described the story in 3 panels Beginning, Middle and End with the help of drawings or text.

Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week:

                 The learner profile  we learnt this week was INQUIRER and THINKER. Being an Inquirer helps us to indulge deeper into the subject and acquire the necessary skills to conduct inquiry and research. The students put on their thinking caps and brought out the creative side. They were fascinated by the comparison between two different communities as  to how art keeps the cultures alive.

 

Upcoming activities / HW:

Next week the learner profile will be REFLECTIVE as students will do a reflection of what they have learnt so far. They will reflect on areas they have improved and knowledge gained.

  • Students this week discussed on dance forms, music, literature e.t.c through pass the ball activity. Teacher questioned the students, followed by students questioning each other to reflect on topics covered. 
  • Students did an assessment reflecting on the knowledge gathered in LOI-2. 
  • Students watched a video on Ajanta Caves and egyptian art.they did an inquiry on what makes Ajanta caves so famous and how egyptian art was preserved till date?

  • Students created a drawing of their choice and exchanged their art piece with their partner. Each student then identified what their friend was trying to convey through their art and how their art was different from that of their friend.

 

  • Students learnt about Henri Matisse and his style of art. They learnt how he invented different styles of painting and why he was known as the king of colors.

Activities done this week: The Learner profile INQUIRERS AND THINKERS made the students explore, ask, gather information and put on their thinking caps to find out about different communities around the world. It was good to see students identifying, trying to understand and absorb the new information gathered. They were fascinated to know arts is so much beyond painting and drawing.

Activities done this week: 

 Students went further ahead and did an inquiry about different forms of arts. They sorted out the meanings of different forms of sub arts of drama, music, literature, calligraphy,drawing and painting through mind mapping. They also did a brainstorming group activity related to different forms of sub arts. They  read about different forms of art in detail within groups and shared their findings with the other groups.  Students watched videos of famous Art monuments of the world 

 

Upcoming activities/ HW:  Students will do an inquiry on what makes Ajanta and Ellora Caves so famous and How Egyptian Arts was preserved till date? They will also prepare for their upcoming FA2 Assessment.

Guided Reading: Students were grouped according to their levels and did a group reading. They were explained about what is a Title?, Who is  Author?, What is illustration?, Who is a publisher? Etc. They were given an introduction about the cover page and what all it contains. 

 

Literature & Spell drill:

Students did blends and practiced two lettered words.

 

Grammar:  Students learnt in detail about collective nouns. They learnt what are collective nouns and watched videos which explained in detail about it. They also framed sentences for collective nouns. They were given an introduction of singular and plural nouns.

Students analysed the arts theme and identified different ways to express themselves. They  recollected and identified the different ways to express themselves (rally robin) in pairs. They did breakup of central idea by identifying  the key words in the CI and finding out their synonyms.
