Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week: The learner Profile attribute which was focussed this week was “Inquirer”, Knowledgeable, “communicator” and “Balanced”. 

    •  Being an inquirer helps the child to develop curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

 

  • Being knowledgeable helps us understand that they have explored concepts and ideas. They acquire an in-depth knowledge through various activities and use conceptual understanding for exploring across a range of disciplines. 

 

 

 

  • Being a communicator students express themselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. They collaborate effectively, listen carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.”

 

 

 

  • Being a balanced student help them to show and express the importance of intellectual, physical and emotionally. They are able to express the strengths and limitations to support learning.

 

 

CIRCLE TIME: Students recited rhymes.

They inquired about different vegetables and their colours. They inquired about the benefits of eating vegetables and their uses.The forms in which we can eat the vegetables. They did 1 to 1 matching of fruits and vegetables with cards to get a better understanding of names, colours and difference. Please go through the link to know the importance of circle time.

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

THEME: SHARING THE PLANET

TOPIC: PLANTS & ANIMALS

Activities done this week: 

  • Students inquired about parts of a plant.
  • They inquired about the names of the parts.
  •  They were able to understand the importance of plants in our lives.
  • They were able to tell the names of different parts of the plant.
  • They understand that plant needs soil, water and air to grow.

Montessori Activities: They are self directed activities, hands on learning and collaborative play. They are an important aspect of child development and enhancing a child’s natural interest to match with the activities.

Activities done this week: Pink Tower, Broad Stairs, Pouring, Beading, Pegging, Picking, Folding napkins and correct ways of opening and closing zips and buckles.

Activities like Pink Tower and Broad Tower help in gross motor development fine muscle development, coordination of movement, eye hand coordination. Children learn abstract mathematical concepts.

Activities like pegging help build fine motor muscle and coordination. It also help in development of good finger grip. 

Folding napkins and clothes is a wonderful exercise for building independence, confidence and fine motor skill.

 

Upcoming activities/ HW: Show and Tell : Children will learn to show and tell 2 sentences about any one of their favourite toy which they will bring from home. 

Please make them learn 2 or 3 sentences about their favourite toy and send it to school.

 

Subject: Math

    • Activities done this week: Students recapitulated numbers 1-10 with their values.
    • Students recapitulated the numbers with its values.

 

  • Students recapitulated shapes and related the shapes with real objects.

 

  • These activities helped the students develop cognitive and pre math skills.
  • They played the game of showing numbers on their fingers.
  • They are able to match the 1 to 1 cards with numbers from 1 to 10.

Upcoming activities: Revision of numbers and activities for the number value.

HOMEWORK:Worksheet given has to be done. Children should be able to identify the number and able to show the number value.

 

Subject: English

Activities done this week: Students recited rhymes during circle time.

  • Students recapitulated letters with their related objects.
  • They learnt the new letter “q” and were able to match 

 with its related objects.

  • They recapped the previously done letters with phonics and actions for the related words.
  • They did actions for opposites.
  • These activities helped the students develop cognitive and language skills.

READING: Students were able to identify the pictures through reading books.

 

Upcoming activities:

 

  • Letter “r” and “s” will be introduced.

 

HOMEWORK: Worksheets given has to be done.

 

Subject: Art

  • Activities done this week:  Students enjoyed scribbling with crayons and chalks. 
  • Students played clay modelling.
  • Students did colouring and learnt to colour within the lines.

Activities done this week: Students had free play with toys.

Students did warm up exercises and energizers.

  • These activities helped the students develop  eye-hand coordination and physical gross motor skills.
  • Students practiced for the Sports Day events.
  • They did physical activities for action words. 

Upcoming activities/ HW: Sports Day will be held on 3rd January Friday for Nursery A and B, PP1 and PP2 at GOSHA MAHAL police grounds. Please bring your child at 9.00 am sharp to the venue.See the notice in the school diary.
