Subject: Learner Profile

Activities done this week: The learner profile which was followed this week on their ongoing topic ‘Governance’ was Thinker. Thinkers exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.


Upcoming activities / HW: The learner profile which will be followed next week in connection to our unit ‘Human Body’ is Inquirer. Students will develop their natural curiosity. They will acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independent learning. They will actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.


Subject: Unit Of Inquiry



Topic: Governance

Central idea: Government systems influence the lives of citizens


Lines of inquiry:

● How government systems function

● How decision-making practices reflect human rights

● Impact of Government on citizens

● The rights and responsibilities of citizenship

Activities done this week:


  • Students recapitulated the unit Governance taught so far.

  • Students sorted out the advantages and disadvantages of each type of government based on their understanding. This was followed by a class discussion.

  • Students gained an understanding of the branches of government.

  • Students gained insight into the constitution of India and understood the Preamble.

  • Fundamental rights and duties of Indian citizens were discussed. This was followed by a group activity.

  • Case study was done based on rights and responsibilities of Indian citizens.

  • Formative Assessment in LOI 3 & 4 was done. Summative Assessment was conducted.

Subject: Math

Activities done this week:


  • Students thought fully found the area and perimeter of irregular figures.

  • Practice problems based on the same was done.

  • Students also solved word problems based on area and perimeter of square and rectangle.

 Homework given in class work.


Subject: English


Various activities were done to strengthen speaking skills in students. Students discussed their understanding of Governance and shared it with the class.Students learned new words and their synonyms and used them while conversing with peers and teachers.JAM session was conducted. Students learned vocabulary to replace commonly used words and enhance their speech.




Students wrote a journal entry based on the ongoing unit. They were asked to add detail to their writing to make it more meaningful.




Author study was done. Students read levelled books during Guided Reading. They watched the Movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ based on the book by the same name written by Roald Dahl.  This was followed by character wheel activity.


Grammar: Pronouns and Prepositions were introduced and taught in detail.


Upcoming activities/ HW: Complete the given worksheet based on Pronouns and Prepositions. Write an article for Fenestra based on your experiences in class 5.
