Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week: The learner profile which was followed this week on their ongoing topic ‘Governance’ was Thinker. Thinkers exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.

 

Upcoming activities / HW: The learner profile which will be followed next week in connection to our unit ‘Human Body’ is Inquirer. Students will develop their natural curiosity. They will acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independent learning. They will actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

 

TRANSDISCIPLINARY THEME – Who we are

Topic: Human Body 

Central idea: The effective interactions between human body systems contribute to health and survival 

 

Lines of inquiry: 

  • Body systems and how they work
  • How body systems are interdependent 
  • Consequences of our choices

Activities done this week: 

  • Students listed out the similarities and differences between humans and robots using a Venn diagram.
  • Students gained an understanding of what makes humans unique.
  • Digestive system was taught in detail.

 

Upcoming activities/ HW:  Complete the given worksheet based on the human digestive system.

 

Subject: Math

Activities done this week: 

Numbers ( Fractions)

  • Students learned different types of fractions.
  • Students converted mixed fractions to improper fractions and vice versa.
  • Students were able to compare the given fractions.

 

Upcoming activities/ HW:

Practice problems given in classwork.  

 

Subject: English

Speaking:

Various activities were done to strengthen speaking skills in students. Students discussed their understanding of the human body and shared it with the class. Students learned new words and their synonyms and used them while conversing with peers and teachers.JAM session was conducted. Students learned vocabulary to replace commonly used words and enhance their speech.

Writing

Students wrote a journal entry based on the ongoing unit. They were asked to add detail to their writing to make it more meaningful. 

Reading

Novel study was done. Students read levelled books during Guided Reading.

 

Grammar: Pronouns and Prepositions were introduced and taught in detail. 

 

Upcoming activities/ HW:  Write an article for Fenestra based on your experiences in class 5.

As per the Government orders, the school will work for half-day from Monday 16 March till 21 April 2020. The timings will be 8:30 am to 1:15 pm.

Please see that your child is dropped and picked up on time. The first period will start at 8:35 sharp.
