The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that was explained this week for their new unit NATURAL HAZARDS was being INQUIRERS & THINKERS.  It was great to see the children being inquirers putting on their thinking caps by identifying the different forms of natural disasters, inquiring about it, getting their pictures, imagining and drawing what it looks like.

THEME:  How We Organize Ourselves

UNIT:-  Natural Hazards

CENTRAL IDEA:-  Human beings have devised ways to prepare for and cope with hazards.


1.The different natural disasters.

  1. The impact of hazards on the environment.
  2. Ways in which people cope with hazards.


Tuning In

  1. Students were introduced to the new theme,explained the central idea and found the synonyms of the given words.
  2. Students were pre-assessed for their previous knowledge of the topic natural hazards through KWHL sheet and they were brainstormed on the central idea and as they tried to understand it and shared  their view with their peers.They were tuned in to the topic natural hazards through the visible thinking routine SEE,THINK, WONDER activity{ they were given picture cards which they used to see, think and wonder }.

         Finding Out

  1. Students were  introduced to LOI-1{ The different natural disaster} .They watched the videos ,identified, discussed and wrote the definition of different natural disasters. {Earthquake ,Flood , Volcano,Tsunami,Hurricanes,Tornado,Drought, Landslide ,Wild fire Blizzard, Avalanches}
  2. Students continued with their learning about different forms of disasters.They watched the video on earthquake and discussed the following questions.1. What is an earthquake/Volcano . 2. How and why earthquakes Volcinic erruption happen? 3. How are earthquakes measured? 4.. How can scientists predict earthquakes and avoid hazards.5.Precautions to be taken.

  1. Inquiry HW given in their notebook.
  2. Follow up work sent.

Activities done this week: 


  • Students solved word problems by their analytical thinking.
  • Students enhanced their mental thinking ability by playing games on math chase
  • students  wrote their assessment in addition in the form of activities and games

  1. Task cards reading, comprehension and follow up writing activity.


  1. The teacher read out the books from the library on different forms of Natural Hazards(circle time activity).


  1. Kinds of verb tenses were introduced with examples & practice work.

  2. Sight word spell quiz was done.

 पुनर्कथन करवाया गया , उसके पश्चात दवित्व अक्षर किसे कहते है वे कौनसे है ?उनका उपयोग कैसे किया जाता है ? इस प्रकार स्पष्टीकरण द्वारा कक्षा मे पढ़ाया और लिखाया गया |

आकलन के लिए कक्षा मे  पुन;अवलोकन करवाया गया | आकलन  लिया गया |
