Activities done this week          

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that was explained this week for their topic EXPLORATION was  COURAGEOUS.  It was great to see the children getting courageous when they did self-exploration activity(putting on their thinking caps, they reflected upon themselves and identified the 3 things that they are scared of, they self reflected and came up with amazing responses and even how they could overcome it and communicated to shared their ideas to the class.

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that we will emphasize next week for their topic EXPLORATION will be COURAGEOUS.   The activities that you can do for the Learner Profiles mentioned above are as follows, You can encourage your child to dare a distressing activity that you have decided before, then you can talk on the effects of the activity, how it makes feel to try a new thing or whether s/he loves it. You can set a friend that s/he doesn’t have time to play for a long time and make them play together. You can constitute unusual conditions (different breakfast menü, not watchıng tv for a week…) and ask him/her to adopt this new situation.

            Dear Parents, please help them in their work, if you find your child following any of the   learner profiles, click a picture or record a video and share it with us through diary, mail or Bloomz. Thank you! 

 

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

THEME:-  Where we are in place and time.

UNIT:-  Explorations

CENTRAL IDEA:-  Explorations lead to discoveries, opportunities and develop new understandings.

LINES OF INQUIRY:-  

    • Reasons for exploration (historical and personal).
    • How exploration have taken place over time.
    • The consequences of exploration.

 

LEARNING ENGAGEMENTS:

Sorting Out:-

  1. Students watched the videos and discussed what are the tools used by early the explorer and how technology has changed exploration(SEE,THINK,WONDER).
  2. Students wrote the similarities and differences between past and present exploration

Making Connections:

  1. Students wrote the similarities and differences between past and present for space and water exploration in their venn diagram for their F.A-2.

  1. Inquiry work sent.

 

Subject: Math

Activities done this week: 

Measurement

  1. Students were introduced to new the topic Area and Perimeter.
  2. Students were made to remember the concept by the song of Area and Perimeter.
  3. Students were able to calculate the Perimeter and Area of regular figures by counting the boxes of the note books as 1 unit.
  4. Students calculated the perimeter and area of different irregular objects by drawing the outline of the object in notebooks.

Subject: English

Activities done this week:  

READING & WRITING:-  

  1. Novel Study-“Charlotte’s Web”: Following the identification of novel title, author and illustrator, the children will echo read chapter 5 after the teacher and  identify the theme, setting, characters and they will do sight words and new topic vocabulary words activities(quiz(spell drill) & broken word activity. 
  2. Story writing of the explorers using the story element and the writing process.

LISTENING & SPEAKING:

 

  • The teacher read out the book from the library on their theme(circle time activity).

 

SPELL DRILL:-

 

  • Students wrote vocabulary on exploration. 
  • Students did spell on sight words, spell quiz, jumbled letter activity, miss-spelt words as well. 

 

GRAMMAR:- .

  1. Students were introduced to the tenses(simple past tense, simple present tense, simple future tense) 
  2. Students practiced more with the tenses.

  1. Learn the sight words and vocabulary on exploration given for spell drill activity on Monday.
  2. Tenses follow up work sent..

Activities done this week:

“ دعا ” پڑھائی گئی ” رب کونین میرے دل کی دعائیں سن لے ” اسے یاد کرنے کو کہا گیا تاکہ اسمبلی میں پیش کیا جا سکے 

کہانیاں پڑھائی گئی ” بولو اپلیکیشن ” سے تاکہ بچوں کی تقریری صلاحیت جانچ کی جائے ۔ 

تین حرفی الفاظ ملے ہوئے پڑھائے گئے ، اور اسم کی تعریف مع مثال پڑھائی گئی ۔

اپنے بچوں کو ہر ہفتہ تین کہانیاں پڑھنے کے لئے کہیں تاکہ ان کی تقریری صلاحیت میں اضافہ ہو سکے ۔

The Class 5 PYP Exhibition at Focus School is just around the corner. We, students, have been working very hard developing our inquiries and are ready to share our learning with you all. You are cordially invited to come and celebrate with us on 19 February 2020 anytime between 9:30AM – 2:30 PM. Please see below an invitation for you to join us on the day to celebrate our culminating learning experience.

The programme for the day is as follows:

9:30am – 10:30 am Opening performances in the auditorium.

The Exhibition continues on the third floor where we invite you to wander through and engage the students in conversations about their inquiry.
