Activities done this week          

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that was explained this week for their topic EXPLORATION was  COURAGEOUS.  It was great to see the children getting courageous when they did self-exploration activity(putting on their thinking caps, they reflected upon themselves and identified the 3 things that they are scared of, they self reflected and came up with amazing responses and even how they could overcome it and communicated to shared their ideas to the class.

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that we will emphasize next week for their topic EXPLORATION will be COURAGEOUS.   The activities that you can do for the Learner Profiles mentioned above are as follows, You can encourage your child to dare a distressing activity that you have decided before, then you can talk on the effects of the activity, how it makes feel to try a new thing or whether s/he loves it. You can set a friend that s/he doesn’t have time to play for a long time and make them play together. You can constitute unusual conditions (different breakfast menü, not watchıng tv for a week…) and ask him/her to adopt this new situation.

            Dear Parents, please help them in their work, if you find your child following any of the   learner profiles, click a picture or record a video and share it with us through diary, mail or Bloomz. Thank you! 

 

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

THEME:-  Where we are in place and time.

UNIT:-  Explorations

CENTRAL IDEA:-  Explorations lead to discoveries, opportunities and develop new understandings.

LINES OF INQUIRY:-  

    • Reasons for exploration (historical and personal).
    • How exploration have taken place over time.
    • The consequences of exploration.

 

LEARNING ENGAGEMENTS:

Making Connections:-

  1. Students recalled all the activities done during the unit and identified the most enjoyable and the most difficult part of the unit through reflection sheet, where they have done well(GLOWING) and where they still need to work upon(GROWING).
  2. Students watched a video about de bono six thinking hats and reviewed their function. They will brainstorm the key words for each hat and will use a simple object in the class and analyse it.

Taking Action:-

  1. Students chose research and analyzed an exploration using De Bono’s thinking hats. (Purpose of exploration, strategies used, consequences of exploration, analyze the discoveries, opportunities, new understandings and provide conclusion.)
  2. Discussed Theme & descriptor for the next unit.

Measurement

  1. Students were able to define the formula for Area and perimeter of square by inquiry.
  2. Students solved problems based on area and perimeter of square.
  3. Students solved word problems on area and perimeter of rectangle and square.

READING & WRITING:-  

  1. Novel Study-“Charlotte’s Web”: Following the identification of novel title, author and illustrator, the children will echo read chapter 5 after the teacher and  identify the theme, setting, characters and they will do sight words and new topic vocabulary words activities(quiz(spell drill) & broken word activity. 
  2. Story writing of the explorers using the story element and the writing process.

LISTENING & SPEAKING:

 

  • The teacher read out the book from the library on their theme(circle time activity).

 

SPELL DRILL:-

 

  • Students did spell on sight words, spell quiz, jumbled letter activity, miss-spelt words as well. 

 

GRAMMAR:- .

  1. Students were introduced to contractions with examples and practice work.
  2. Students did an assessment on the contractions.

Upcoming activities/ HW:

  1. Learn the sight words and vocabulary on exploration given for spell drill activity on Monday.
  2. Contractions follow up work sent.
