Theme: Sharing the planet

Title: Adaptation

Central Idea: Overtime living things need to adapt in order to survive.

Lines of Inquiry:

  • Characteristics of the major habitat/biomes
  • Physical adaptations and behavioral adaptations that allow an animal to survive in their biome
  • Connection between animals and the people in those habitats

  • sorted different types of behavioural adaptations like hibernation, defense, migration, mimicry and camouflage into definitions, reasons and examples
  • analyzed the challenges of each biome and corresponding physical adaptation of flora and fauna
  • read the book “What animals eat?” and learned the terms “predator” and “prey”.
  • presented their knowledge about the classification of animals according to their feeding and living habits.


Subject: Math

Activities done this week: 

  • Students practice division as repeated subtraction.
  • Students discussed about math exhibition and their topics.
  • Students learn the relationship between multiplication and division.
  • Students learned definitions of dividend, divisor, quotient and remainder. 
  • Students learned properties of division.

Activities done this week:  

Guided Reading and Author Study 

  • Students read story at an appropriate level,independently,confidently and with good understanding and will find out meanings and also practice related grammar and write in their guided reading notebook.
  • New books by Dr.Seuss issued to the students. Students read a brief summary of their story books in front of the class.


  • Assessment of synonyms and pronouns done 

Reading and Writing 

  • Students differentiated between introduction and main body of short stories given in groups and presented their findings to the whole class.
  • Students noted down the important points to write a good main body 
  • Children worked in groups and wrote a main body for the introductions they had written last week.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Write a good “main body” to continue the story introduction you had written last week for “Christmas Eve”.

Activities done this week:

اردو زبان پڑھنے والے طلباء اور طالبات کے لئے ” یوم اردو ” منایا گیا جس میں درجہ تین کے لئے جام سیشن تھا جس میں کچھ بچوں نے حصہ لیا اور کامیاب بھی ہوئے ۔ ایک منٹ میں ” ماحولیات ” کے عنوان سے تقریر کرنا تھا ۔

उ की मात्रा मे पुनर्कथन करवाया गया  | स्पष्टीकरण द्वारा ऊ की मात्रा से अवगत करवाया गया  | ऊ की मात्रा के शब्द पढाए और लिखाए गए |

ऊ की मात्रा की कविता को पढ़ाया गया  | उसके उपरांत खाली स्थान भरो करवाया  गया |

Washrooms (playing with water, throwing water on each other)  Clean tables in classroom during the PE period
English (English is being spoken at all times, even during the break) Students will be sent to a lower class & take a mini lesson on speaking English
Stairs/Corridors (see that no one pushes the other) Clean up the class with a broom during the PE period.
Soft boards (will not touch the soft boards and spoil the work) Students will miss out on 2 P.E classes.
