Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week: The learner profile attribute that was explained this week for the unit was being INQUIRERS & THINKERS.  It was great to see the children being inquirers putting on their thinking caps by understanding the relationship between location and settlement, inquiring and brainstorming about it.

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

THEME:- Where we are in place and time

TOPIC:-  Landforms and settlements

CENTRAL IDEA:-  The earth’s physical geography has an impact on human interactions and settlements

LINES OF INQUIRY:-

1.Variability of physical geography around the world

2.The relationship between location and settlement

3.Impact of human interactions on the physical environment

 

Activities done this week: 

  • Students carried out shared reading in groups to make connection between climate, population, flora and fauna of different landforms – Oceans & Rivers, Mountains & Volcanoes, Forest,Deserts and Arctic & Tundra region and completed the inquiry wheel (definition, climate, occupation and flora & fauna)
  • Students did a group presentation, gathered information and wrote about human settlements in different land forms ( occupation, flora and fauna, climate etc)
  • Students watched the continent and ocean song and did the map pointing activity where in they marked the 7 continents and 5 oceans on the map
  • Students learnt to locate an object by using terms vertical and horizontals on a grid through Think Pair Share (Thinking Routine). Students did a map skills activity where they found the location of different items on the grid. By this they built their understanding of the grid and they were introduced to latitudes and longitudes

 

Upcoming activities/ HW: 

 For the next week students will learn the map pointing of 7 continents and 5 oceans and complete the table landforms for relationship between location and settlement. The students will also prepare for LOI-2

 

Subject: Math

Activities done this week: 

  • Students identified odd and even numbers and understood the concept by doing an activity in which they wrote their parents phone numbers and checked if it is odd or even number.
  • Students recalled subtraction and learned vocabulary terms used for subtraction.
  • Students practiced subtraction problems with and without carry.

  • Practice worksheet given.

Activities done this week:  

Grammar:

  • Students read and wrote the sentences and identified whether the modal verb can/ could is an ability or a possibility
  • Students understood the usage of modal verb”should” through application of knowledge giving examples.

Activities done this week:

Activities done this week::Students learnt to design  table and they inserted table by writing types of landforms in powerpoint document.

Activities done this week: Students read the story and done the activity Name, PLace ,Animals and Things by sorting out from the story.
