Activities done this week
The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that was explained this week for their unit NATURAL HAZARDS was being INQUIRERS & THINKERS. It was great to see the children being inquirers putting on their thinking caps by identifying the different forms and how, why, what, when of natural disasters, inquiring about it, getting their pictures, imagining and drawing what it looks like.
Upcoming activities / HW:
The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that we will emphasize next week as well will be PRINCIPLED. This attribute will help them learn how to take care of themselves and be prepared for the disasters.

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry
THEME:- How We Organize Ourselves
UNIT:- Natural Hazards
CENTRAL IDEA:– Human beings have devised ways to prepare for and cope with hazards.
LINES OF INQUIRY:-
1.The different natural disasters.
2. The impact of hazards on the environment.
3. Ways in which people cope with hazards.
LEARNING ENGAGEMENTS:
Sorting Out
1.Students demonstrated their understanding of LOI-2.
2.Students were brainstormed on the impact of the hazards on the environment.
3.They identified the reasons/causes and their effects on our environment of the disasters that happen, reading the books from the library.
4.Students learned about the symbols that stand for each of the disasters.
5.Students made vocab journals and wrote down the symbols, made sentences and the cause and the effects of the hazards given to them in groups.
6.They discussed and wrote the impacts of different natural hazards on the environment and also draw the symbols of different natural disasters. For better understanding they made vocab journals(FRAYER MODEL=> symbol, sentences, cause, effect)
7.Stand Alone : Students demonstrated their understanding of the solar system and identify the different planets shown(Solar system)

Measurement
Students were introduced to the new topic Lines.
Students defined the point, line, line segment and ray.
Students related the given topic with different examples in our day to day life.

Health screening notice: Dear Nur-C5 Parents,
We are conducting health screening at Focus School Noor Khan Bazar Campus on 17th, 18th and 19th September 2019. Doctors from Motiwala Dental Clinic, High Sight Eye Hospital and Jaferia Hospital will participate. The health checkup includes a general health, dental and vision screening.

Literacy week notice: Dear Parents,
We will be celebrating ‘World Literacy Week’ from 16th – 20th September 2019. In order to instill and develop the love of reading, students are asked to get a storybook from home and swap it with their peers. The books will be returned on Friday.
