Activities done this week: The learner profile which was followed this week in connection to our ongoing unit ‘Identity’ was Inquirer. Students developed their natural curiosity. They acquired the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and showed independent learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

Upcoming activities / HW: The learner profile attribute that will be explained next week based on our ongoing unit ‘Identity’  will be Knowledgeable. Students will develop and use conceptual understanding and explore knowledge across a range of disciplines. Students will engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.

  • Students did a 10 times two activity based on their first line of inquiryStudents did a break-up of the second line of inquiry for clear understanding
  • Students came up with examples of how cultural and social norms influence on how we choose to present ourselves.
  • Students made the lines of inquiry for the PYPX based on the targets of their chosen SDG.

  • Students prepared themselves for Math evening and very confidently represented their activities.
  • A great effort by all the students.
  • Inter House Math quiz competition was conducted. The Unity House achieved the first place.

Speaking:

Various activities were done to strengthen speaking skills in students. Students discussed their understanding of the Global Goals and shared it with the class.Students learned new words and their synonyms and used them while conversing with peers and teachers.JAM session was conducted. Students learned vocabulary to replace commonly used words and enhance their speech.

Grammar:

Compound Sentences was taught in detail. Students gained an understanding of forming compound sentences. 

Writing

Students wrote a journal entry based on the ongoing unit. They were asked to add detail to their writing to make it more meaningful.

Reading

Author study was done. Students read levelled books during Guided Reading.

اردو زبان میں درجہ پنجم کے طلباء نے یونت انکوائری ” پہچان ” پر ایک کہانی بنائی اور اس میں اپنا تعارف کب کیسے اور کہاں کیوں ؟ کرنا ہوتا ہے بتایا ۔ تینوں سیکشن کے طلباء نے ایک ایک کہانی لکھا جس کا عنوان ” پہچان ” ہے ۔ پچھلے ہفتے یوم اردو منایا گیا جس میں ۷ اسکولوں میں سے چار اسکول کے بچوں نے ” اسکٹ ” پیش کیا جس کا نتیجہ ذیل میں بھیجا جا رہا ہے ۔

تحریری مقابلہ بھی ہوا جس میں اپنے اسکول کے بچوں کو تحریری مقابلہ میں کوئی انعام حاصل نہیں ہوا ، میں والدین سے گذارش کرتا ہوں کے اپنے بچوں کو اردو خوبصورت لکھنے کے لئے آمادہ کریں تاکہ وہ کہیں حصہ لے کر انعامات کے مستحق بن سکیں ۔

Title: Adaptation

Central Idea: Overtime living things need to adapt in order to survive.

Lines of Inquiry: 

    • Characteristics of the major habitat/biomes

 

  • Physical adaptations and behavioral adaptations that allow an animal to survive in their biome

 

  • Connection between animals and the people in those habitats

Activities done this week: 

  • Students reflected their understanding of challenges faced by animals in different biomes and the corresponding physical and behavioural adaptations. 
  • Students demonstrated their understanding for physical and behavioral adaptations.
  • Students brainstormed in what ways do humans depend on animals.
  • Students hypothesized fictional reasons behind particular animal tales and answered questions in groups by rolling a dice.

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES that was explained this week for their new topic FORCES was  INQUIRER & THINKER.  It was great to see the children curious about the topic, putting on their thinking caps and become little inquirers, when they visited the Birla Science Museum and started exploring and asking questions as how and which force is applied and how the machines work, its application, they brainstormed and communicated to share their ideas to the class, when they came back from the field trip and filled their reflection as well.
