Activities done this week: The learner profile which is focused this week is ‘knowledgeable’ as students learn about different means of transport and modes of transport and observed the demonstration on fire safety,

Central Idea: Development of means of transport changed the ability of  humans to move about

 Lines of Inquiry:

  • means of transportation( on land, in the air, in water)
  • Importance of transportation in our life

Activities done this week: 

Finding out

  1. Children observed the vehicles moving on the road and noted down in their notebook.
  2. Features of different means of transport were discovered through See, Think and Wonder activity after observing the toys on “inquiry table”
  3. Students carried out shared reading in groups and shared their learning with the class.
  4. Students watched a video on the invention of the wheel and identified reasons why the wheel was important.
  5. Students learn about safety rules through fire demonstration

  1. Bar graphs were created based upon the data collected on “how do you come to school” 
  2. Students carried out backward counting while calling out the roll numbers.

  1.  Read and comprehend the given passage, identified prepositions and pronouns in magic pot.
  2.  Write the sight words in spell drill.

Listening and speaking 

Students listened to the story in the read-aloud and identified the need for pronouns through the story “lion and rabbit” which had repeated use of the noun. 

Grammar 

  1. Students played a game using flashcards with a pronoun and pointed towards the noun which could be replaced with the pronoun card they got.
  2. Definition and examples of pronoun written in a notebook.
  3. Students made sentences using pronouns. 
  4. rewrite the sentences using pronouns in place of a noun

تحریری کام :  دہ حرفی الفاظ کو ملا کر لکھنا سکھایا گیا لفظوں میں اور جملوں میں ۔ اس کے علاوہ بچوں نے ” میرا گھر ” کہانی کو ” نقل ” کیا ۱۵ میں کا وقت دیتے ہوئے ۱۰ جملے لکھنے کی طلباء نے کوشش کیا اکثر بچوں نے کام نامکمل لیکن خوبصورت کیا ۔ کچھ بچوں نے کام وقت پر مکمل کیا اور خوبصورت تحریر سے بھی کیا ۔

How can parents help to develop students who are Knowledgeable at home?

  • Encourage your child to read books at home that correspond with the topics being covered in school. In particular, books in their mother tongue will help your child make more meaningful, lasting connections to what is being taught in their classroom in English.

The students listened to different stories followed by classroom discussions to make interesting and fun predictions and creating a different ending using their creative imagination skills. 

Learner Profile Story Sessions

The students listened to stories that enhance the learner profiles such as Thinker and Courageous Learner profiles. The story session was followed by provocative classroom discussion and the students were asked about their perspectives on the story and how they can demonstrate the learner profiles in their daily lives.

The session was followed by activities of story sequencing, Sorting the plot according to the beginning, middle and end of the story, using their Thinking Skills to answer story related questions.

Sharing Perspectives and Creating Story Endings.

The students listened to stories and were encouraged to share their ideas to create the ending of the stories by using their imagination skills and creative skills. The students came up with various perspectives and shared it with their peers. They also reflected on the stories and related it to their real life experiences.

Emotions and Feelings

The students inferred the varied emotions and feelings and listed the emotions vocabulary. They differentiated between the positive feelings and negative feelings by colouring the positive feelings green and negative feelings red.

Feelings of story characters

The students identified the emotions felt by the different characters of a given story in varied story situations in an activity sheet.

  The students memorized the names of the Days of the Week . They listed and sequenced the names of the weekdays in their notebooks.

Caterpillar activity

The students were given circular cutouts and they wrote the names of the weekdays on the cut outs. They then pasted it in the correct order in an activity sheet to make a caterpillar.

  The students used their imagination skills to create fun short stories while using all the four story elements. They also focused on using voice modulation and story appropriate vocabulary such as One morning, Once upon a time, One day , then etc.

Formative assessment was conducted . The task was to identify and list the story elements of a short cvc story and they also had to create and tell a short story using their imagination.

  • Formative Assessment on conflict resolution and management was conducted. Students identified the causes and effects of conflicts in the given scenarios and suggested solutions for peaceful living.
  • Students gained an understanding of sharing feelings in order to resolve conflicts and wrote I-Statements for each conflicting scenario.
  • Students identified the reasons that cause a conflict to negatively escalate and distinguished between passive, aggressive, and assertive communication styles.

Activities done this week: 

  • Students were given different scenarios and asked to answer the questions based on the same. Each scenario was based on a type of conflict and students had to identify the reason for conflict, examples from their experience and how this conflict could be resolved 
  • Students gained an understanding of sharing their feelings in order to resolve conflicts and wrote I- statements for each conflicting scenarios..
  • Students identified the reasons that cause a conflict to negatively escalate and distinguished between passive, aggressive, and assertive communication styles.
  • Formative Assessment on conflict resolution and management was conducted. Students identified the causes and effects of conflicts in the given scenarios and suggested solutions for peaceful living.

  • Various activities were done to strengthen speaking skills in students. Students came up with new words from the dictionary and tried to frame sentences.

Grammar:  Phrases and Clauses were taught in detail. Students came up with examples to show their understanding.
